📖 About the 28 Card Game (Gulan / Eripathettu)
28 (also known as Irupathiyettu or Thuruppu Gulan) is a beloved trick-taking card game from Kerala, India. Played with 32 cards across 4 suits, teams of two face each other and bid for the right to choose trump. The Jack is the highest card in every suit — that's why it's called Gulan (trump)!
How it works: Four cards are dealt to each player. Based on these, players bid 14–28 points. The highest bidder chooses a trump suit and hides one trump card face-down. Four more cards are dealt, and the play begins. The bidding team must win at least their bid in points — Jacks are worth 3, Nines 2, Aces and Tens 1 each. If they succeed, they win; if they fail, the opponents score!
Scoring: Win a round to gain game points. First team to reach 12 game points wins the championship. But the real challenge? Win 10 championships in a row to be crowned 👑 King of the Table!
